Can i use just paddles without mode selector ? #
Yes! If You don’t feel like using joystick or mode selector You can use just paddles or sequential shifter. GCU would startup in Neutral by default, holding upshift signal for 0,5sec (user definable) will engage Drive mode 1st gear. From that moment shifting works normally. To switch to N hold downshift signal for defined time while stationary on 1st gear, and hold it again to enter Reverse mode.
Mode selectors are convenient to use, and recommended but in motorsport applications You can live without it.
How to connect paddle shifters ? #
There are 3 main types of paddles based on connection types:
- Individual switches
- Common switches (load cell)
- CAN bus
Individual switches: #
Two individual paddles can be independently connected to two separate inputs of HTG GCU. Depending on connection method You can either use DIG_in or AN_in. Digital inputs are triggered by applying s_GND (L2)
Analog inputs are triggered by applying GCU +5v_out (M1) or +12v_out (M2).
Common switches (load cell): #
Two individual paddles can be connected to one common analog input of HTG GCU.Such connection require using pullup resistors.
It is possible to use different resistor values (R2 and R3 can’t be resistors of the same value)- those parameters are user definable in our HTG tuning suite, although we recommendusing shown.
CAN bus: #
In case of using CAN bus based paddles it is required (unless HTG predefined) to define message in CAN bus inputs configuration screen and assign created object to upshift or downshift paddle function.
