Installation of clutch speed and temperature sensor in 2nd. gen of VW DSG DQ500.
OEM DSG measures temperature in 2 places – on the OEM TCM and at the clutch. FOr some reason VW decided to remove clutch temperature sensor from 2nd. (Bosch) generation of DQ500 DSG. !st gen as well as for example DQ250 used that sensor.
It not only measures temperature of the clutch but also supplies GCU with data of clutch rotation which is crucial for superb slip control.
GCU can work without this sensor connected but it is strongly recommended to use it. After plugging it in, GCU recognizes and starts using it automatically.
Installation is very simple because DSG case has mounting hole and thread in place and 2nd generation TCM that quit using that sensor from factory (and that’s funny part here) still has socket to plug it in.
Sensor can be purchased in HTG store: DQ500 shaft speed and temperature sensor
